Virtual Rubik's Cube: turn it, scramble it, try it.
Drag the cube to look around, turn faces with the buttons or the R, L, U, D, F and B keys, and type your own move sequences. A safe way to practise algorithms before you try them on a real cube.
How to use it
- Drag the cube to rotate your view. Switch to Flat net to see all six faces at once.
- Turn a face with the buttons, or press R, L, U, D, F, B. Hold Shift for an anticlockwise turn, and press Backspace to undo.
- Type moves such as R U R' U' and press “Do it”.
- Scramble mixes the cube. Reverse all moves plays the scramble and everything you did backwards, so the cube ends up solved. It is not a real solver, but it is a handy way to rewind a mistake or to see a solution played out.
Ways to use it for learning
Try the “sexy move” (R U R' U') six times and watch the cube return to solved. Try the 2×2 first if you are new: it has no centres or edges and is a gentle introduction. To learn the symbols, read the notation guide, and for a full method follow our step-by-step guide to solving a Rubik's Cube.
Prefer a teacher? Our Rubik's Cube, speedcubing and Pyraminx classes take learners from a first solve to smoother, faster turning.
FAQ
Common questions
Can this virtual cube solve itself?
It is not a real solver. But “Reverse all moves” plays the scramble and your own moves backwards, so a cube you scrambled here ends up solved. To learn to solve one yourself, follow the beginner's guide.
What cube sizes are available?
2×2, 3×3, 4×4 and 5×5. The face buttons turn the outer layers, and you can type wide moves like Rw or slice moves like 2R for bigger cubes.
Can I use my keyboard?
Yes. Press R, L, U, D, F or B for a clockwise turn, hold Shift for anticlockwise, and press Backspace to undo the last move.
