Short, frequent practice works best. Start with number bonds to 10, then bridging through 10, then column addition. Five to ten minutes a day is better than one long session.
At what age do children learn column addition?
Two-digit column addition is usually taught around Grade 2 (Year 3, age 7 to 8) and three-digit addition around Grade 3.
