Project: dice detective

Learn

Games like Yahtzee score a roll by counting matching dice. Count how many times each value appears with a dictionary, then look at the counts: sorted from big to small, the counts [3, 2] mean a full house and [2, 2, 1] means two pairs. Working out the pattern from the counts is simpler than checking every combination.

Your task

Write best_hand(dice) for five dice that returns one of: five of a kind, four of a kind, full house, three of a kind, two pairs, pair, nothing.

Stretch challenge

Add a large straight (1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6) as another hand.
