How to play Spelling Bee

1. Choose a level that matches your age and press Start.
2. Press Hear the word (if your device can read aloud) and read the clue sentence with the gap.
3. Type the word and press Check or Enter. You have two tries.
4. Stuck? Press Hint to see the first letters. Each hint costs 2 points.
5. Ten words make a round. A right answer scores 10, a second try scores 7.

Tips and strategy

• Say the word slowly in sounds, then write one sound at a time.
• Look for patterns, such as -tion, silent letters and double letters.
• Notice the words you miss. They appear again in the next round and are worth learning.
• Use the clue sentence: it tells you which word is meant when words sound alike.
