FAQ
Checkmate puzzles: questions
How should a child use these puzzles?
Set up the position or look at the diagram, find every check, and ask for each: can the king escape, can the attacker be captured, can the check be blocked? Write the move, then check the answer page.
Why do some puzzles have more than one answer?
Sometimes two different moves both give checkmate. Every one of them is listed on the answer page, and any of them counts.
Can my child play these online?
Yes. The same puzzles are in the free Mate in One game, which explains why a wrong move does not work.
